About Me


Hello and welcome to my blog! I am so excited that you are here. I hope that you enjoy exploring, experimenting, and tasting some delicious food. Please feel free to leave comments, I love to get feedback.

Let me introduce myself. I grew up in Tucson, Arizona and then moved to Omaha, Nebraska to attend college and law school. I am now living in the Phoenix metro area, and I started this blog after teaching myself how to cook and developing a passion for healthy, delicious food.

My Food Journey


During law school, I made a commitment to myself: I was NOT going to gain the first year fifteen! Instead of going through the drive through lane every night, I took some breaks from studying to teach myself how to cook. Even on a tight student budget, I discovered that making healthy food that I loved to eat could be simple, affordable, and fun. My cooking journey has been a series of trial and error with many failures along the way. I would still consider myself a beginner but I am excited to see what new adventures lie ahead.

In the summer of 2012 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. I had always been perfectly healthy and never imagined I would one day have a chronic disease. The diagnosis was devastating and left me feeling like I had no control over what was happening to my body. After going through months of pain and frustration, I decided to take my health to heart and start making conscious decisions about the foods I was putting in my body.

About This Blog


My commitment to nutrition led me to explore new ways of healthy eating. Today, my diet is gluten free and dairy free (although I will admit dairy is one of my favorite food groups and I do indulge in some cheese on occasion!).  I decided to create this blog to share my food journey and provide a resource for people with special dietary needs and anyone looking to improve the overall quality of their nutrition.

Not every recipe on this blog meets my specific dietary requirements. For example, I eat meat, and yet I will post vegetarian and vegan recipes here. My goal is not to attempt to impose my dietary choices on others. Rather, I want to provide access to recipes that meet a wide range of dietary needs in a format that is organized and easy to navigate.
